Crashed Aircraft Recovery in WW2 India

I'm trying to research my late father's WW2 service and am trying to gather information from a lot of sources.

I know that he was with a unit of the RAF in WW2 that used to go to crash sites in India and Burma to recover crashed planes. I have applied to the RAF to find what unit he was in .

At some stage he must have interacted with US forces as he recalled assembling P-47s from parts , while ( he implies ) the USAF personnel were busy catching the clap! I also know he was in Burma as he tells of an officer who was " persuaded" to remain on the line as the IJA apprached.

Anyway , if you have an interest in the RAF in India/Burma and know of some interesting info on the subject can you let me know? Anything on crash recovery would be especially welcome.

For what it's worth, the RAF operated P-47s in India and Burma from 1944 - about a dozen squadrons altogether.
