MaryT, if the customer was always right we would not need consumer legislation.
The return policy on unwanted or unsuitable goods is a service, not a right, people who abuse this service by keeping goods at home for outside of the generous approval period offered, are taking the mick, another person will buy those goods, and if they have been sitting in someone elses's house for over a month they could be exposed to anything. It is not unreasonable to expect people to return an unwqanted itme in saleable condition within 28 days, and in most casesa, when they do return it, the item has been reduced, in which case there is an automatic loss, which has a knock on effect on trade.
