work started on our bathroom at the beginning of december, quoted for the work and we have purchased all the materials ourself.
Bob the builder decided to end his work on the 23 of december without telling us of course and to go on a nice vacation to australia, cos he lives 4 doors away!!!
His work has been left unfinished and it is a complete disaster.
He has left his tools of course and i knew he would not come back and i refuse to let him enter our home anyway
I want to hit where it hurt the most: get a portion of our money back cos there is still a lot of work to be done.
what should i do?

contact him by letter, recorded delivery, outlining your concerns and give him notice, one month say, to either complete the work or full refund or you will apply to small claims court to recover your money and other expenses plus court costs. it is really simple to do, just go to your local court and get papers, no cost untill you apply to other party but these will be recovered along with costs should you win the case. you must write to him first and keep records of all contact with him.
