For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I'm sorry if answering questions spoils a quiz for other people. The problem I have is that, as far as I can see, all questions on this site rank equal with each other. There's no advisory system or moderation to say that a question is inappropriate or impose some sort of embargo on answers and I suppose it would run completely counter to the purpose of the site to make answers private or hidden.
Some people ask for hints rather than answers, and I can understand and respect that. Some people seem to get upset with people asking for help with their homework, and I can understand that to an extent also. My own personal beef is with people who seem never to have heard of search engines. Some answers just leap out of Google or Altavista and questioners have obviously just not used the resources already available to them.
On the other hand I don't know where half these quizzes come from, who sets them, how you get hold of them etc. It's a sub-culture which is foreign to me. I love quizzes. I wait every year for the King William's College Quiz and fondly remember the days when it was a 6 month long exercise trawling through reference books trying to puzzle out as many answers as possible before looking at the answers. For those who feel that a site like this spoils a quiz I suppose my response would be - if you don't want to know the result - look away!

dundurn - I too am amazed at some poeple's lack of abliity with google, altavista, etc. I honestly think it's laziness - they would rather ask on here when it would be much simpler to visit google, etc.
The majority of the quizzes are advertisied on here - it's just a case of keeping your eyes peeled (or you can do a search for "quizzes" or "charity quizzes", etc.).
I also understand your last comment, but I think you are missing my point. The frustration comes from toiling long and hard myself to discover an answer, only to find the lazy types have simply asked for the answer on here. It's not a question of not looking at this site to see that answers have been given away - it's the frustration that some people get the answer with no effort at all - I suppose it's down to ethics/morals, etc. - too many people just don't have them any more. If I can't find an answer, I simply leave a blank space - I would get no pleasure from getting a question right if I had not discovered the answer from my own endeavours.
