electrical wiring colours
my new light socket has a wiring diagram- with red, blue and green/yellow wires indicated. My electric wiring has wires within which are red, blue and solid green. Is the green the same as the green/yellow?

The house wiring WAS red, black and green/yellow with yellow (solid)and blue also identifying phase colours or lives if you like, but is now brown, blue and green/yellow with black and grey the other phase colours, are you keeping up?

turboped - the colours definitely were as i said in my question! and i am in the UK, which is why i couldnt work it out. Anyway i have wired the new switch up putting the green with the green and yellow seperate wire, like it was before, and it works! and my house hasnt burnt down (yet)!!
