Good evening all. Mr MB and I were chatting earlier and I asked if he thought I looked 'fat' aside from my bump obviously, and he said yes. I have to say I agree. I've always told him to be honest with me so in a way I'm glad he was. I have so far put on 2 stone. I'm just concerned that I have put on too much weight: under my chin, round my arms, my legs and my back. I even have stretch marks just up from my knees. I am going to be quite strict with myself after baby is born, but has anyone else put on quite a bit and is what I've put on at 31 weeks normal? TIA
Nothings 'normal' hun in pregnancy lol. But i shall tell you that I have so far put on 1.5 stone but was rather heavy in first place.
I put on 3 stone with my first and when he was born lost 4 stone! Mind you, i piled a lot back on again in the following 6 months of pill taking.
I am at 28 weeks now and Im amazed i havnt put on more tbh. I have heard of a woman due same time as me who has so far put on 4 stone!
Its mainly fluid and baby, but also your body stores fat ready to use when breast feeding puts a lot of demands on your body. So you should lose most of this at the birth or soon after.
Its all natural, but theres no 'normal' amount to gain. My friend LOST 6 stone in her last pregnancy lol
Hello!
Long time since I had my babies but I put on 2 stone with each pregnancy and it is perfectly normal. Frankly the time to be concerned is when you're NOT putting on weight.
Breastfeeding does help. I breastfed my first for 9 months and second for 15 ( though only the one night feed at this stage).
Good luck - I loved being pregnant, can remember all the highs and lows to this day!! x
Hi, when I was pregnant I put on 3 stone in total and lost a stone as soon as my daughter was born with no effort and another half a stone the week after, again without doing anything (I didn't breastfeed either). It was very hard to lose the last stone though and now I look back I wish I hadn't have rammed my face with food in those last 6 weeks or so! I didn't binge on food but I did eat anything I wanted because it is very hard to 'be good' when you are the size of a house and I foolishly thought it would be easy to get the weight off after, it wasn't. Some people however do just put weight on everywhere and some lucky people just have a bump and nothing else which is what I had until 30 plus weeks when I began to not care about my figure anymore!
Im nearly 32 wks and have put on 2 stone already. But i have to say, i dont feel like i have put on much weight other than the bump, which is really quite neat so im not worried about it.
You had to do it didnt you? lol Curiosity finally got the better of me and I finally went and weighed myself. Im 36 weeks and Ive put on about 3.5 stone. Its all those cream cakes everyone leeps encouraging me to eat! lol
With my first pregnancy, I put on 2 stone.
I honeslty have no idea how much weight I have put on; I was weighed at my booking in appt but not since then. I don't think I have put on a huge amount except for baby, but because my mum and her sisters had such trouble losing weight following pregnancies I have been very conscious about eating bad foods. I had a good diet and lots of exercise before I fell pregnant, but have not exercised since week 10.
I definitely feel more wobbly, and I am sure I have probably put on a bit of weight but I don't think I have put on a huge amount - I was never a skinny minnie to start with - a "good" 14 - so losing 2stone to get me back into those skinnies won't be an issue cos I never could get into a pair in the first place! LOL
I'm not a very large person, but I gained over 3 stone when I was pregnant. I didn't walk - I waddled. I worried that I'd never lose the excess weight, but it went very quickly with a good diet and plenty of exercise. I weigh approx. half a stone more now, than before I got pregnant at all, but I prefer it that way. Each person's different, as redcrx says, and so long as you're healthy, I wouldn't worry about it too much. x
I was lucky with my pregnancy. I put on 16 lbs and lost 18 lbs the day I gave birth. Lol. I love exercise and exercised(appropriately) all the way through. In fact I worked out the day I gave birth.
I also breast fed and I couldnt believe it when I woke up to a flat tummy two days after I gave birth.
On the other hand my sister put on 4 stone with all 3 of her pregnancies and my cousin put on 3 stone with hers.
Everybody is different and your midwife will let you know if there is anything to worry about.
Congratulations and good luck to all you mummy's to be.
