Just heard on the news of yet again more and more cuts are being made for looking after the elderly and disabled and yet in the paper today an article about the millions that are being sent to eastern europe in child benefit for children who do not even live in this country. Now I am not very politically minded but seems to me something is very wrong here. Can anyone tell me...is it just me....or do others think this is barmy.

Charity does not begin at home here!!!

We have people needing help after the floodings, we've even got homeless people, yet we still send money abroad!!

Why??!!
bureaucracy gone mad!
you'd think that they would be caring about those in the country they are governing for, and then others come second. its a bit wibbly
What can we do about it? Seriously, can we really make any difference? Look at the time 'we' demonstrated about petrol and now look at the price. The Government relies on our apathy. The Government is not giving enough to Local Council, so what have they done? Yes, shifted the deficit on to us by increasing our Council Tax - I have had enough of being downtrodden, conditioned and abused by this Government - No other country would let them get away with it; there would be riots everywhere - we just shut up and put up and that is what they are banking on!

Are other Western European contries doing the same thing I wonder?!
Good old England, anyone want to come and live here? no problem, in you come and have a house and some money, and if you don't, then we'll send you some money anyway.
Horay!
I believe that there is a policy that ensure that they get council houses in a matter of weeks, whereas we would have to wait months - anyone else heard this?

Don't know about that toby 99 but what I read is that a man can come here from say Poland to work (fair enough) but if they have children back in Poland then they are entitled to child benefit, this is what I'm gripeing about. If my husband went to work in Poland would the polish government send me money...oh silly me course not.
