frozen shoulder

i have had an injection, but still in severe pain, in my shoulder and strong shooting pains in my arm , i am waiting to go to physio, but i have heard that this can last for up to two years, and an operation if not successful i could lose the use of the arm, how true is this, and does anyone else suffer with the pain.

hi plattbridge i had an accident in a car 40 months a go hit from behind and injured my disc in my lower back and i have had on going pain in my spine all this time and it damage my left shoulder it sounds like the same pain in my shoulder you as you i am not sure i am going for mri scan this week to find out.I have had also 2 epidurals in my spine and both did no good

My father suffered frozen shoulder for 18 months and it eventually went away. He had a few injections and physio
which helped somewhat but there's not an awful lot you can do but wait and keep POSITIVE and eventually you'll realise it isn't quiet as bad day by day!

What injection did you have? there are many different types you can have for this problem. If you haven't had the BOTOX injection yet ask your GP to refer you to the pain management clinic and ask if they will do that for you.

I had a condition where I couldn't raise my arm up high, this was due to an inflamed nerve where the nerve passes through the hole in the shoulder blade to the arm.
I was given a cortizone injection to reduce the inflammation thus allowing the nerve to heal and it worked perfectly. I didn't require any other treatment.

The Doctor who gave me the injection told me that in order for cortizone to work effectively it has to be injected as close as possible to the point of pain. If it is slightly out ( 5 or 10mm ) then it will not be very effective.
Maybe your injection missed the spot, have a word at your Doctor's surgery.

Hope this information helps, it's a very painful condition I know.

I had cortisone injections in my ribcage to try and help my condition(post thoracotomy chest pain) but they didn't work so i've just had BOTOX a week ago today,it apparently takes a week to 10 days to work but i've seen no improvement yet,that doesn't mean it hasn't worked though :-) I hope you manage to find something that works,you don't have to put up with the pain so don't let your GP fob you off,insist on a referral to the pain management clinic!
