easyjet bagggage limits
I know limit of 20Kg per person applies and I know that I am travelling with someone else and that we have paid to take one bag between us (short trip).
Also know that easyjet accept bags up to maximum of 32 Kg and they have lots of other spiel on the website that do not speak plain English - but my degeree does not allow me to work it out....
Simple question? - is there excess to pay if two people turn up with one bag that weighs 30Kg?
Have tried easyjet customer service and the answer is even muddier than the FAQ site.

You will therefore incur the excess baggage charge which is extortionate if its over for 1 bag

Tboo has got it right.
Each bag has to be checked in by an individual passenger using that person's baggage allowance. ('Pooling' is not permitted).
If I've read your post correctly, you've already paid the 3.99 advance fee to register one bag. If you turn up with just that bag, weighing 30Kg, you'll be charged 60 for excess baggage. (i.e. 10Kg at 6 per Kg).
(Excess baggage fees are here:
http://www.easyjet.com/EN/Book/regulations.htm l )
If you take two separate bags (both weighing less than 20Kg), you'll just have to pay the 8 fee for registering a second bag at the airport. (I'm not sure whether you can amend your existing booking online and register that bag before you arrive. If so, the 3.99 fee will apply, rather than the 8 fee at the airport).

In case (excuse the pun) anyone is interested here is the reply I got from EJ 'customer services'
"Thank you for contacting us.
I can confirm that the hold baggage fee is 3.99 per bag if you book in advance on the easyJet website via 'my easyJet.com' or 8.00 per bag at the airport.
Irrespective of the number of checked-in bags, each passenger has a weight allowance of 20kg, after which excess baggage charges of 6.00 per extra kilo will apply.
You can also take one standard piece of hand baggage within the dimensions of 55x40x20cm. There is no weight restriction, within reasonable limits - i.e. you must be able to place the piece of baggage safely in the overhead compartments without assistance.
I have included a link below to more information on our baggage policy:"
This is a differnet interpretation but not sure I am brave enough to try it - maybe because the website is so vague! Anyway thanks for momments so far.

In 09/07 I booked a return flight for 2 from STD to BCN, for 02/08
When I booked the flight , we were allocated ONE combined piece of hold luggage, which must not exceed 20kgs*
EJ states the weight allowance PER PASSENGER is 20kgs.
EJ further state due to H&S,the combined bag must not exceed 32kgs*, (so presumablly the additional 12kgs would class as excess baggage, and therefore be chargable?).
If not chargeable, the 12kgs, making 32kgs,means each passenger's allowance is only 16kgs each, not 20kgs
Online you can pay 3.99 per extra case, however, BEWARE,when you try to pay for ONE extra case, to enable you both to have a suitcase.. and both to have your 20kgs EJ charges TWO lots of 3.99, an additional 7.98
(3 people 3 x 3.99 etc.)
This is grossy unfare practise, as you have already paid for one combined case, so why charge twice?
You might as well turn up at the airport with an extra case and just pay the 8.00 at the airport
It might be a better idea to book each person seperately.,at least that way each person would be allocated their 20kgs when booking. Although, you would run a risk that you may not both get on the same flight!
Assuming the combined luggage weight allowance is sufficient, EJ have not even considered the fact you may be travelling with another person but not necessarily staying in the same accomodation as them.... resulting in having to divide you luggage at your arrival airport, with one person not having a case to carry it in!
Interestingly, today (1/2/08),I have just entered the same flight details on the EJ website, the price is a great deal more now, due to the flight being in the next 2 weeks, but, the luggage allowance is now 2 pieces of hold luggage per passengers combined
Great if 2 persons are travelling, but what if your booking was for 3 people or more!
Surely One 20kg
