corsa electrical problem

My Vauxhall Corsa has developed an intermittent fault with the lights and gauges. I am having trouble with my lights suddenly flashing off and on. My gauges and heater are also doing the same thing. Can anyone tell me what could be the cause of this and what would it need to be put right.
