I think it's something to do with multiples of 9. Everytime you do it, 9 and multiples of it have the same symbol, and each time the symbol changes. The answer is always going to be 9 or a multiple. Why, though, is something I can't explain but no doubt someone will be able to.

This sort of thing has been going around for years. No matter what you think of, the answer is always a number divisible by 9. It's just a quirk of mathematics.

indeed but how does it know which your is answer is 9,18,27 etc...

Because the symbol is the same for 9 and all the multiples of 9.

your answer will always be a multiple of 9!

Each time you open the puzzle the symbols are in different positions. But . . . each time you will see that 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, and 81 are the same symbol every time. The reason being that each of those answers make nine. ie 1+8 =9. 2 + 7 = 9. 3 + 6 = 9 etc. Don't get scared.

But that's only the same as any "magic trick". Once you know how it's done, it's not very impressive.
