lap top screen problems
The screen on our laptop has gone a bit strange. the screen has gone black but the icons and screen saver picture can be seen if you look at the screen at a certain angle. It's only the outlines you can see and the cursor can be picked out if you look really carefully. Have I pressed something or is there a major problem?? Anyone??? Oh, its an HP omnibook XE4500.

is it a "ghost" image ... or a real image?
in my experience - normally with powersave the screen is completely blank
if you can see a real desktop - my guess is that the backlight has gone.
you might be lucky and it's just the lead that's loose (you still need to open the machine up)
otherwise ... it'll cost 100.00+ for a new screen (probably wiser to get a flat screen monitor (with TV would be perfect - at least then you can use it when the lappy isn't in use)

strangely a 19" costs less (123.00)
