Is there a way of getting an "any driver" policy on car insurance without being a mechanic or a driver for a living? So that anyone can drive the car. Would it be cheaper then trying to insure for like 4 people on a car? Cheers

Unless one or more of the drivers is in a high insurance category (drink drive etc) then it is far cheaper to name the drivers than have a 'any driver' policy.

Well is there anyway to get Any Driver insurance? I am interested
There are plenty of insurers that offer it - after all, no matter how many people can drive the car, it can only be driven by one person at a time.

It may be difficult to get quotes online as it is outside the norm, but your local insurance broker will have no problem providing you with several quotes.
But there will be a risk premium to pay because the insurer has no knowledge of or control over who might drive the car. Could include someone with the most awful claims record and 11 points on their licence.
So ask for quote comparisons against a requirement where you name the 4 drivers on the policy.
Good point, buildersmate. I forgot to add that very often there are strict exceptions on these policies - no under 25s, no more than 6 penalty points and so on.

Well doesnt that beat the object of it being "any driver"?
You could probably get unrestricted 'any driver' - but it would cost you several thousand pounds.

Well thats just silly, what if i wanted to insure my whole family? and possibly friends if i wanted to lend my car out often. Wouldn't it just be easier to do it that way rather than going through the effort of insuring everyone?
Now we are just going around in circles.
All we are saying is that you could get an 'Any Driver' policy, but it will just cost you a shed-load of money because of the risk profile. Choose to name a number of drivers, and it will likely work out cheaper - depending on the record of those named to drive.
