Tropical Fish Tank

I have just purchased a 4 foot by 18 inches by 15 inches fish tank and I need to know the water capacity in both gallons and litres to enable me to treat the water, can anybody help. Many thanks

Assuming you are in the UK, your tank could hold a maximum of

46.7 gallons which is 212 litres.

It is a sensible idea to deduct about 10% for the space on top of the water and the gravel.

Wildwoods figures are spoton but if you ever need to work it out here's how you do it.
Multiply Length (4ft) X breadth (1.5ft) X Depth (1.25ft) to give the volume of the tank in cubic feet
4 x 1.5 x 1.25 =7.5cu ft
1cu ft = 6.24 gallons
so the amount of water in yuor tank is
7.5 x 6.24 gallons = 46.8 gallons
1gallon = 4.54 litres
so the amount of water in your tank in litres is 46.8 x 4.54 212.4 litres
and as wildwood says dont forget to deduct the airspace and gravel
