The version I know:

One bright day in the middle of the night

Two dead man got up fo fight

Back to back, they faced each other

Drew their swords, then shot each other

*dead men

Follow on to lodekka, two blind men to see fair play

two dumb men to shout hooray

and two dead men to carry them away.

We had another similar nosense verse:- One dark night in the middle of the day The Thames caught fire and the water ran away. A blind man saw it, A deaf man heard it, A man with no legs ran to the fire station, The fire-engine came with two dead horses, Ran over a dead cat & half killed it The bit about the fire engine having horses dates it rather
The American folk song "oh susannah" has internal illogic, but this isn't helping Sparky Paul It rained all night the day I left The weather was bone dry The sun so hot I froze myself Susannah don't you cry
