My instruction book said to add Vitamin C powder to the rest of the ingredients. I don't have any - what can I add instead? is it OK to make without? Many thanks in advance.

HI, True, Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid to give it it's correct name, can be bought in tablet form in most chemists and health food shops. If you buy it this way, you just crush the tablet up. But is it really necessary these days? Look on your flour bag and if it's treated (not organic or anything like that) it should say 'Flour treatment Agent (Vitamin C)' So there you have it! I tried everything to get a good wholemeal loaf out of my bread machine, in the end I bought some bread improver from Fellows Bakery on Ebay. My bread is perfect all the time now. I also get Fresh Yeast from them, usually they are delivered the next day.
