My laptop recently packed up and I had to reinstall the startup discs to get it going again. Now I 'm unable to connect to the internet as the laptop only knows dialup!!! I have broadband through my tv cable how can I get the internet to work on the laptop????

Was it connected in the first place?

You say it's old. Not an expert, but if it's old, it probably doesn't have a USB or the correct drivers to run broadband. And if it does have a USB/drivers, wouldn't it be an idea to call your supplier about any software needed to connect.

Assuming it's the same laptop - you need to re-install the cable modem drivers
