someone bumped my car the other day and the headlight cover is cracked...the light stil works perfectly fine!
are you allowed to drive with a crack in the headlight?

Yes.

As long as the headlight beam is correct and the cover is not likely to injure anyone.
Further to Toureman's answer, the crack must not allow water to enter the housing.

Provided these conditions are met it is not an MOT failure.
and that it is not insecure.
