Network Connectivity Problem

I have been trying to add a new computer to my Wifi network. I have input the network key, and the dialogue box tells me I am currently connected to the network. But for the past 12 hours it has also said "Acquiring Network Address". What do I have to do to be properly connected to the network?

How is your router configured? Mine is set to allow three connections at a time - if a fourth tries it shows this message.
There are many possibilities why this is happening - have you tried connecting the computer to the router by cable? Does that help?

I believe in simple things first. Switch everything off at the mains. Wait at least 30 seconds. Switch back on in this EXACT order:
1. Modem ...wait a few seconds for lights to settle
2. Router (if seperate) ...wait
3. Computers.
If all else fails, reset the router to factory settings and then reset the security.
There are many possibilities why this is happening - have you tried connecting the computer to the router by cable? Does that help?

The first thing to do is simply right-click the network icon in the system tray and choose repair. That sometimes untangles things.
If that doesn't work you need to check the DHCP settings in your router. The fact that the message is showing indicates that in the TCP/IP settings fro your network connection you have chosen "Obtain an IP address automatically".
This option relies on the router providing an IP address to devices as they connect. From within your router configuration program, you should be able to anable DHCP and set a starting address and a pool count (the number of addresses it can allocate).
