when can he apply for early release/ parole on a reduced sentence
4 Answers
hi, my friend received a 6 year sentence that was reduced to 3 years for stabbing someone. When is the earliest he could apply for parole/ early release/ one of these curfew etc schemes. I don't understand the reduced sentence part - does he have to serve the full 3 years or can he apply earlier and if so when. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

some people are not eligible for tag though. And he would be released on 'licence' until the end of his full sentence, any offence he committed in that time would almost certainly see him back in jail.

Hi, think i was given some confusing info. It seems he was given 6 years but has been told by his solicitor that he will serve a minimum of 3. Does this mean he can apply to be released after 3 years (obviously providing good behaviour etc) and if so does that mean he has to serve 3 years before applying or that he can apply before the 3 years (if that makes sense). Also, should he appeal, is it possible that the sentance could be increased as well as the possibility of it being lowered or remaining the same? If it helps this was more of a domestic situation rather than a random attack. Thanks
