I am asthmatic. I have two puffs twice daily of Seretide 250, 1 a day of Alvesco 160 and have Bricanyl 0.5 as my emergency inhaler and 1 5mg Neoclarityn(antihistamine) daily. I 've also been on 5mg a day of Prednisolene for a couple of years. I am forever getting coughs/colds/ chest infections, with various courses of antibiotics/increased steriods. My GP(s) sent me for lots of xrays but found nothing. I have been attending a specialist asthma clinic twice a year. GP reduced steriod (Pred) to 2.5 mg for a month with a view to coming off. Due to how much my breathing suffered i am now on a 5 day course of 30mg prednisolene daily. As I have now discovered the pred can weaken the immune system can anyone suggest anything to boost immune system, besides multi vits, zinc and echinecea? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Hello , I can empathise with you on this as I am a severe asthmatic too and tend to get frequent chest infections . Anything and everything can bring on an attack and I am too often on a course of 30-40mg Prednisolone a day plus all the other meds.. I can't think of any advise I have been given regarding our reduced immunity other than avoiding people with colds and things. Not much help to you I am sure , just wanted to let you know that I have that same question :-) xx

Thanks bigmamma - fingers crossed they find something to help us in the not too distant future!! It gets very tiring I find, as it causes me to cough all the time! My doc says my lungs are doing the equivalent of a couple of marathons a week. Look after yourself! x
Bless , it is tiring trying to breath and having to try to cough when you can't get a deep enough breath in for a good cough out . Take care sweetie xxxxx
