I thought I'd read years ago that the multi-purpose liquid cleaner known in the United States as "Mr. Clean" was called "Flash" in the UK.  Or at least the character was called Flash.  Here's a picture of the guy:

Can any Left Pondians confirm this?

He doesn't look familiar to me. How long ago was "Mr Clean" being used?

Is there any truth in the rumour that Michael "The Shield" Chiklis will be playing him in the upcoming movie? ;-)

No, he doesn't ring a bell with me either, but he does bear more than a passing resemblance to the Jolly Green Giant, don't you think?

Don't recognize the geezer but Flash is made by Procter and Gamble aka P & G UK. Flash was first introduced in the UK as Flash Powder in 1958.

Mr Clean is also made by P & G. So same company at least.

here in england we have a product called Flash, and there is a real guy in the adverts who looks a bit like that animation, he isn't called Flash though.

That actor is Karl 'Jacko' Howman. Most famous for his role in the comedy 'Brush Stokes'
