URGENT: Will my girlfriend's credit score affect my mortgage renewel?
2 Answers
My girlfriend has lived at my house for almost a year and has missed a couple of payments on her car insurance, which is registered at my address. I am going to be looking at changing my mortgage lender soon and wondered whether my credit check will be done against my address, i.e. including my girlfriend's credit score, or against me personally?
I can't find very much about this online that is specific. Any help would be GREATLY apprecited.
Thanks.

Any reason for not paying out, and they will take it!
One other thing, re reading your post, you don't say if your girlfriend lives there, but if they do find out the car is registered there, they may assume she does too, and the law requires that everyone living at an address has to agree to the mortgage, even if you are the only one paying.

Firstly, car insurance history is shared by insurerers as a "closed user group", this means mortgage lennders don't see it. However if the insurance was on credit, the infomration may have been shared with one or more credit reference agency (Experian, Callcredit and Equifax).
You can get a copy of your file and check what's recorded.
Generally, other people's information is not considered with yours unless there is a financial association. If you have had joint accounts or applied for credit in joint names with your girlfriend, there will be an "association" link on file. You will discover this when you obtain a copy of your file. If there is no longer a link between you, you can notify the credit bureau and they will remove it (unless there is evidence to the contrary).
So, in a nutshell, an ex's performance should not impact your credit score or credit rating. Phew
