I have a keen interest in architecture, and when I see a nice house would like to take a photo of it, but is there a law against this, or am I allowed to take pictures of random houses?

As long as you on public property, or private property with permission, you can take a photo of anything you like (some government buildings and MOD excepted)
my son was taking pics of houses for his college work this bloke came out and asked him wot he was up to,
anyway the bloke was ok in the end so be careful
