I took on a cat that was going to be destroyed, she is very nice natured but since i have had her (5 months) she does not like going outside, she is not very active at all and has piled on loads of weight, she likes to be with me or lay on my bed, i pick her up and put her outside but she runs back in, ive tried shutting my living room door so she cant get in but all she does is sleep on the table then. all my other cats go out and are normal weight 2 1/2 kgs. but this cat must be 5kg-6kg, my mum suggested why the weather is so nice to put her in my big dog cage and cover it and place in the garden in a quiet spot,? Would this be wicked? we look out on fields,
anyone know of a low fat diet but then if i feed them all thatwill theyother cats get there proper nutrition

Not much point in putting her outside in a n enclosure as she would not get the exercise she needs any way. I would not force her out if she does not want to go. Maybe in the summer when you are in the garden you could coax her out. If you have had her for only five months then you have not had her in summer yet. My cats do not like to go out in the winter, and will go for weeks without stepping outside the door. As for her diet I would recommend Hills Science Diet. I would not worry about the other cats unless they started to lose weight whilst on it
PS I have found the cheapest Hills is to be found on the internet. Just google Vet UK. delivery is free and usually only takes about 2 days. It is much cheaper than the vets.

One of our cats will only go outside if we go with her as she was locked in a room with 20 others , she still uses a tray .
Our 2 have a egg poacher scoop of Hills Science Plan in the morning and 2 dessert spoons of Felix in Jelly in the afternoon , the Hills is a complete meal ..Lucky has just been to the vet and her weight is spot on ..but they do get a treat ..they are spoilt !!
Our cat is an indoor cat. We play with him a lot which keeps his weight under control (he eats like a pig). Buy a laser-light cat toy or a dangley thing on a stick that you can get 'em to chase around.
