If Mad Ken goes through with charging 4x4 owners 25 quid a day to drive into the zone and let under 2.5 litre cars go in for free, then do you agree that within six months the city of London will be as congested as ever and TFL will fail to raise any funding for the loony 1/2 billion pound cycle lane project.

Im assuming this applies to saloon cars that have 4X4 capabilities?

It will be as congested as ever yes..
Speaking as someone from the provinces (who's also tasted the very fine selection of beers at the Forresters tonight) I'm no expert on "Red Ken" but having read and recently watched a documentary on him, I have to say love him or loathe him he has something to say. He says I want to do this.... and does it.
You'll see it often on here people saying what they're against and then splutter when you ask what they stand for or believe in.
Livingstone will waltz the next election on that basis alone (never mind the fact that Boris Johnstone is a buffoon), as a man I have to say I have a certain respect for people who say what they mean, mean what they say and see it through. One thing he aint is a liar.

I agree, it's obviously designed to be a sweetener come election time, so the only way it can work is if he re introduces another stealth tax after he gets in again, in the same way he first set the charge at five pounds and within a year put it up to eight.
Believe you me you want to be glad you don't live in London.

The tube in the morning is so congested through many people giving up their cars.

They have not thought about this at all. Never mind about 6 months from now. And as for the cycle lane, who wants to cycle to work??

I must admit we do have a few men and 1 lady that I know of who cycle to work, All arriving in their cycling shorts and having to change in the loo because of our dress code.
The lady cyclist has been hospitalised twice, brave lady to keep on cycling.

I don't mind the charging, but you have not got much of an alternative choice if you have to arrive at work at a certain time.

The buses are useless and never go the route you want and they are just as full.
