cat breating trouble
4 Answers
our tigger sounds like a warthog, bless her. shes always coughing and gagging and when she breathes she sounds like shes snoring. she is worse if you give her a fuss cos this makes her purr and seems to set it off worse. she has so far had the following done at different visits to the vet. anitbiotic 1, antibiotic 2, antiinflamatory. now shes gotta go back for a nasal wash and x-ray next week. the last week or so she has seemed depressed, which might be down to the fact she has resigned herself (after 9 months) to the presence of a new cat in the house, or it might be related to her illness (if only we could ask). also, she has gone a bit greasy feeling, like she needs a good shampoo. i cant help thinking there might be something wrong with her. hairball mechanism, as its incredibly rare she ever gets one up. has anyone had anything like this with their cats? or is there a vet here who can advise?

My younger cat, Daisy, has a problem occasionally. She snores loudly and when she purrs a lot it is af if she has something stuck in her throat - she seems to have difficulty swallowing. She is nearly 11 and had an accident at 18 months when she squashed her nose which is when all this started. She is a very healthy (large!) cat in every other repect and it doesn't appear to bother her so I don't worry overmuch.
Cat's do suffer from food allergies - has your vet suggested anything like that? That can also result in poor condition so it may be worth pursuing. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have the same problem with one of my cats at the moment , his nasal passages were so bunged up he could not eat , we have had treatments from the vet but nothing is working at the moment his last lot of drugs we had to sryinge into his mouth as it was the only way we could get him to take it , he has not been out since before xmas and at the moment seems a little better But I no he will go down again soon , as this has been going on for the last two years , each time getting worse Gypsy x
