Renting

I earn approx �15000 before tax a year. I would like to rent a flat that is �350pcm. Would I be able to afford it? The heating is electric, no gas bills, I would not have a landline to pay for. What would my bills be apart from council tax, elec bill, rent?

you need to do the sums

Start with your take home pay ! deduct �350 rent, say �25 elec, �100 council tax (ish) phone, internet, food, petrol etc

only you will know what you spend, write it all down

Car Tax, car insurance, MOT, repairs (if car owner)
Pulic transport to get to work & back (if not car driver)
Broadband
Mobile phone charges

You can do it but you will have to just be careful with money.

word of advice...if you do rent photograph everything,every little stain, every little scratch, every little dent, EVERYTHING. My daughter (and 2 friends) didn't and really got taken by her landlord when she moved out. She eventually got �10.00 back from her deposit and he charged her �1.00 for the envelope and postage for sending her that!!!

I'm on �14K a year, and I'm renting a flat for �300pcm. We don't have council tax here though (NI). I don't have a gas bill either, all electric, and my last bill for a quarter was �130 (the economy 7 radiators are rubbish and I have to have a separate electric heater. I have a washing machine, but no dishwasher or tumble dryer. I manage with this, although I don't have much spare cash....Never go on holidays, I prefer having cash to go out at week ends.

Gosh where ever do you live to be able to rent a flat for �350 pcm......flats in my area are at least �600 and someone I know lives on the outskirts of London and pays �900 pcm for a crappy half a house called a flat.

If it were me I am certain I could manage what you want to do.
