hi, im having big problems with land of leather. ordered sofas 6months ago and they arrived 12weeks later at my home. when we unwrapped them there was a large scuff on one of and no two panels were the same colour! i was not impressed as you can imagine. i complained to the manager of the store i ordered them from and he said he would need to arrange to have them inspected. 3 days later the bloke inspected them and admitted they were wrong, he sent the report to the store and i contacted the manager and he said he would re order. he did so. the 2nd set of sofas are now at the store like agreed (12weeks after the 1st set being delivered to my home) only the leather on this set of sofas is nothing like the sofas in the showroom, the showroom model has lovely thick really soft leather and these ones have really hard coarse leather.
i told the manager im not haapy to accept these and he has said he can re order but wants me to sign an agreement to say i will accept the next set that arrives. im obviously not going to do this and told him that i want to cancel my order as he cant get the goods to the standard of the one in the showroom, like the ones i wanted and ordered. he told me that they will not accept my cancellation and that i have to accept one of the 2!!!
very frustrated at this as this isnt fair at all, neither set fo sofas are what i ordeder, or more to the point the leather is not of the quality which i ordered. i understand that all leather is different but the difference in these 2 leather suites is very substantial!
anyone got any advice on what i should do next?
sorry ofr such long post.
thanks gem x

Oh gem- sounds a nightmare! If I were you I'd get on to Trading Standards, or Citizen's Advice. And thanks for posting this- I'm looking for a new leather suite- I now know where to avoid! Good luck x
Simle just stick out for your money back , they are not what you ordered, end of .
I have just searched in Google on "land of leather problems" and found loads of other people complaining about them.

Here is one:

A few years ago World of Leather went bankrupt and I think someone bought them out and rebranded themselves as "land of leather", often using the same shops.

The people who took over sound pretty awful and I would suggets people avoid them like the plague.
I'd say you've a cast-iron case. Mention of Trading Standards might make the manager see sense, but if it doesn't, that's the place to go.

veryhelpfulguy, yea i seen all the reviews on land of leather unfortunately it was too late. i also paid an extra 250 for the insurance. i just acnt believe that i ahve paid tem over 2000 and they expect me to accept the rubbish that they are trying to give me!!! have just got the numbers for trading standards and local citizens advice, going to call em in morning. thanks for ya advice, all of you x
Goodness - I hope you get your money back and never go anywhere near the place again. I've heard it's rubbish.
If it's of any help, there's a really good company here, who'll even make you a suite to your requirements. They had a sale on recently, and you could get a 2 and 3 seater settee for well under 2000. They'll send swatches, & you can even pay in instalments if you want to.

I don't think you can beat long-lasting, classic furniture.
did you pay on a credit card?

12months interest free finance. have contacted the finance company and got to send them a copy of letter that im going to write to land of leather. once finance company recieve it they will get involved on my behalf. spoke to trading standards this morning and they said i am well within my rights to cancel order under sales of goods act 1979. told this to the manger of land of leather stevenage and he told me that he still wont accept my cancellation!!! im so angry!
If you get Trading Standards to put it in writing, or for someone to pay a visit to the shop, I don't think they'll be able to worm their way out of it. Best of luck.
Tell them if they do not write to you confirming cancellation of your order within 7 days your go to the local press / radio station. The threat of bad press which will damage their reputation and therefore sales should get you a result.
