Spiral perm
Hi everyone. I'm having a spiral perm done at home by a mobile hairdresser later this week. My hair is shoulder length and very thick. Any advice on what I should watch out for? Someone told me the stylist will need special "corkscrew" type rods to do it, but when i asked her she said no, she just uses ordinary ones.
I haven't had a perm for many years, but when I was younger I used to have them regularly- mullet style!! - (I'm quite an old laydee now!), but they always "took" very well.
Any tips on what I should + shouldn't do?
Many thanks, Bath x

I havent heard of anyone having a perm in a long time so Im not clued up Im afraid.
Couldnt you achieve the same look with heated bendy rollers without damaging your own hair as much ?

Are you sure you want to go for a perm? Straight hair is very fashionable at the moment? I know what you like about curly hair I used to love the idea of curly hair when I was younger. Each time I see CSI NY and CSI Miami there is one woman in each programme that has the most beautiful natural spiral curly hair. I thought they were the same woman at first.
Hi weeal + Jenga. Quick update as promised- perm completed + I love it! Look a bit like Charles II at moment, but apparently in a couple of days I can shampoo + condition it then experiment with styles. She used ordinary perm rods (some pink, some yellow, + a few white). It took 2 and half hours to wind them all in! I'm delighted!! Thanks for caring!! xx
