When Corrie went to 3-a-week, it meant that the street itself was needed most of the time for filming and Granada were unable to fit the tours around the filming schedules.

I attended a company do at Granada Studios just before it closed. Indeed we were told we were the last party in.

Our company arranged for us to meet Rita of Coronation Street on the set. We had a drink in the Rovers Return too. We dined under a star lit sky on a street set used for Sherlock Holmes and other series. Many staff were in costumes and we were entertained by magicians and fortune tellers. A memorable and enjoyable night.

I once went, travelled all the way from London, but it was a journey worth making just to tread those cobbles.

I was surprised at how small everything was!!

I remember that Sherlock Holmes set. Pity it's all closed to the public. My Mum always wanted to go.
