I'd go for a female. I'm not sure why, I always have had female pets, my cat is female too. Maybe the subconscious feeling that girls are more loyal...lol

I think a female because I like my mums dog and she's a lady dog.

Might depend on breed though, have you tried asking in Animals? They might know more.

how about yorkshire terriers

I wouldn't own a dog but if I did it would depend on the breed as to which gender I chose. As for yorkshire terriers I would have a dog rather than a bitch,the females often have health problems in my experience unless you have them spayed at the earliest opportunity.

A bitch for sure! We have two - a Shi-tzu and cavalier king charles spaniel and both have fantastic temperaments and are very loving.
