want to take pictures from a movie file

I have been given a CD from a holiday i went on last year and its saved as a .DAT file. Now this works in Media Player but not in anything else. I need it to work movie maker so i can still from the movie and save them as pictures. Can anyone help?

hiya. I don't know much about video files, does movie maker use wmvs? Well anyway, if movie maker doesn't accept .DAT files (which I presume you are saying) then you can convert files online to what you need. I use www.zamzar.com which is normally pretty good. Hope it helps.

Yea thats what I'm saying, i need to convert it to wma or something that movie maker will play. Cheers for the link but it doesnt accept .dat files :(
