Do people tend to buy the type of car they learnt to drive in?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I do agree Lats, I think that if you learn in a small car (which most people do) - the most popular learner driver car is a Vauxhall Corsa, then you are more likely to buy a small car for yourself once you've passed your test. I know I've just answered my own question(!) but I wanted to see what other people thought.

I agree, but you hit the nail on the head with your comment "For young drivers they are an affordable way to have a new and reliable car,". This is true, but don't you think that if you are young, you get one of these small cars cos it's affordable and you drive it for a while, you would stick with that "brand" of car and be loyal to say Vauxhall throughout your life, if you enjoyed your experience with your first car?
My first car was a VW Golf and I loved it and if I could afford it would buy a brand new one!
