Terror leaflet

A couple of months ago a television ad campaign told me that I would soon be getting a leaflet through my letter box advising me how to be prepared for and cope with a terrorist attack, apparently it was being posted to every household in Britain. Sadly it never arrived so I am as unprepared for an attack as ever, quick chat in our office established the fact that none of my colleagues had seen it either, did any one get one? Was it any use? Am I going to die horribly while my neighbours chuckle from their can filled cellars? Did the governement lie about the number being delivered? Or is it simply that the postman couldn't be bothered to carry them all so dumped them in a skip instead? Anyone?

We got one.  Don't worry, you didn't miss anything!  It didn't tell you anything you don't already know.  Ours went straight in the bin and was dismissed by my husband as 'typical Government hogwash'.

You're not missing out really, unless you are an utter mong.  We got one.  I read the first page and threw it out.  Things like, stay calm and do as the designated person in charge says... blah blah.  Just like any other emergency really.

Ditto both of the above. Nothing useful in it. It's basically an @rse covering excercise by the government so that when something bad happens they aren't open to accusations of leaving us unprepared for it.

Maybe your postie is actually a terrorist? We got one of those useful, nay, potentially life-saving booklets. It was called something like "Planning for Emergencies: Stating the Bleeding Obvious".    We had one of those leaflets,......waste of time and money ! threw it in the bin ! most of it contained common knowledge stuff.... stay indoors, watch the television to keep up with all that was happening ' out there '...... keep a torch handy, ..... NO electric means NO television !!!  there was a  TV  prog' on not so long ago, covering the fact that, especially the American Gov. purposely wanted to install the  fear  of such an attack into the minds of the people, so ALL decisions taken, no matter what, would be acceptable...was not the IRAQ war started this way ?  TONY BLAIR, being TONY BLAIR,  seems to have copied  George Bush, and his lot in this matter, we live in fear, so they can do ,or carry out whatever they want...... yes, these 'terrorists ' are out there, be alert yes, but live your life in fear ? NO !!

A pointless leaflet and part of a wider political agenda. The cost to print and send these across the UK was huge, image how Blair could have used this, instead of filling recycle bins!

there are a couple of films you should watch too, and at the moment i cannot for the life of me remember what they are. one was about a nuclear bomb being set off near Sheffield and the other was old info ads during the cold war or something about how to deal with 'fall out' etc. it was defenatly made before the mids 80's - its very dated. would be gratefull if any one can remember the names. :0)

Provided great comedy value but not much else.  Gems included "if you smell gas DO NOT light a cigarette" and "if someone is injured find a person with first aid training".  Hate to think what the cost of producing and distributing this booklet was......
