Hi I am just about to insure a car but I have driving offences which the offence date is march 04 and due to come off my licence next month as it will be 4 yrs from the date of offence and the offence codes are elligible to be removed next month. My question if i wait a month to take out the policy after getting the points removed could i not declare the points to the insurer even if it is 5 yrs they ask for? Seeing as my licence would be clean in the event of a claim could they invalidate my insurance for not disclosing these points? Is there anyway they could find out that these points were on here before and act upon it? The offence codes are IN10 and CU30 (driving uninsured and a balding tyre) stupid i know but I've learned my lesson!

To be honest it is better to declare the offences. I had a SP50, speeding on a motorway, and it made no difference to my premium whatsoever. I think you will find these are "trivial" offences as far as insurers are concerned. It is better to be honest, or run the risk of your insurance being void.
if you lie and they find out, yes,it could cause you problems.
clearly havent learned your lesson if you are now thinking about gaining insurance under false pretences to add insurance fraud to the list of other things you've done!
plus, what exactly do you intend to do for the month when you dont have insurance?
Tell them anyway. Then you are being scrupulously open and giving full disclosure. They, in return, should pay little or no attention, considering that you were so close to their limit of time.
In insurance, a principle called 'uberrima fidei' exists (utmost good faith). If you make a false declaration when making your application, your insurance policy isn't worth the paper it's written on, and should you have an accident you will most likely be held personally liable for damages to you, your car, and anyone else you hit, (the insurance company will wash their hands of you) and you would end up in a lot more trouble than a few points.

Better off being honest - bednobs is right
Ah, 'uberrimae fidei' , what law students with no Latin call the 'dead dog principle' ( To them it sounds like 'who buried my Fido ?')
We apply directly to the DVLA for licence results - this will list all convictions up to 5 years old, and drink/drive convictions that are up to 10 years old - it certainly beats the idiots sending in doctored photocopies, or old licences with new photocards (do people think we don't check?)

Declare them - IN10 is not looked at favourably, but if you don't disclose it and we find out, then there would be a very good chance that you will find your policy cancelled and you will not be covered for any accident.
