woohooo, i made the first cake in my whole life,it is chocolate spounge cake with fresh cream on top, taste nice...but too big for me and my boyfriend, so i kept persuading my housemate to have cake and tea with me...
Hi Mirela - I could've joined you for cake & tea!
The cake sounds as if it was too warm when you put the cream on - hence it melting. You need to let it really cool down.
Here's to plenty more baking & whatever else you may cook in the kitchen - good luck
hi jake, still half of cake left...
last time, my friend shown me the cake she made, she used cup of cream, this time i just used the ANCHOR cream, and squz on the top, is possible coz that reason?
It's jack by the way but hey whats an 'e' between friends!
Yes spray cream won't stay upright on a cake & will melt.
Double cream with castor sugar to taste, whipped/whisked to a fairly stiff consistency will keep its shape & tastes yum! You could cut the sponge in half next time, fill it with the cream & then sandwich it together & tada! you've got a victoria sponge cake (minus the jam - but you could add a layer of that before putting on the cream)
with my family of JD's that cake would be gone by now!
hoops jack, do you always drink coke as well then?;)
i did cut it in half and tried to make sandwich, but used the same spray cream, so can't see any white cream left between those two layers.
you sounds good at bakery, will ask your advice when i next time try new stuff!!!
your're welcome & I like tea, coffee, a nice wine with a good meal & sometimes a shandy! or a good sweet ale & yet I called myself JD!
Mr JD seems to enjoy my cooking - he's got the stomach to match!!! (in a loving way)
I enjoy savory food very much & Mr JD made a chocolate buttercream sponge cake last week - I don't know what got into him!
hope I can help as well as other Abers on this site
