Running Away From Home
19 Answers
Did anyone here ever run away from home when they were children? I did it regularly but then I was brought up in kids homes from the age of 3 months to 16 years and life could be really miserable and hard. The longest I was missing for was a week when I was just 16 but I was perfectly safe as I was staying with a friend whose parents were away.
What got me thinking about this was the little 9 year old in Yorkshire who has been missing for 3 nights now. Her family must be at their wits end!

It was a dark friday evening and he was about 7 years old.
Fed up with being ordered to bed 'early', he packed his little toy suitcase, stepped outside onto the communal balcony and said 'I think I'll go in the morning!!'
When the morning came, he had forgotten about it!!
But my mum used laugh every time we recalled it!!

One of my daughters threatened to run away once so I packed her a bag and made her some sandwiches in case she got hungry. She was gone for about an hour and then snuck in the back door. She thought I hadn't heard her come back in and was really shocked when I shouted up to her room that her favourite TV programme was about to start. I would have looked like an awful mum if she had actually run away.pmsl.
i used to get as far as the front door before I turned round and went back to my room. My daughter (shes only 5!) told me the other day she was going to pack her bags and leave as Id told her off for something. When I said i'd pack her bags for her while she was at school she changed her mind thankfully! lol
I never seriously ran away but when I was about six I decided I'd had enough and so packed a Tesco carrier with my cuddly toy dog, a Super Ted book in case I got bored and a banana in case I got hungry. Apparently the banana wasn't substantial enough because mum said I got as far as the park then turned and came home for tea.
Hope to God they find this little girl before someone else does though X

i packed a little pink suitcase once when i was 12, with lots of books, emptied my piggy bank of its 12 pounds in coppers and set off one night.
i was going to...well i didn't know exactly but did head off in the direction of my gran's town 14 miles away. so i got to a village 2 miles away from mine and met some kids same age as me who were wondering where i was going i boldly told them i was running away, they kept me talking while one ran and got his parents who phoned the police who came and took me home!
joking aside hopefully the little girl is found safe and well.
