Why do they say prostitution is the oldest profession?

So its turned into word association has it?

ok... the apple picker was unemployed so turned to doing tricks for a couple of bob.
the tricks turned into a profession that was liked and imitated by one of her friends.
this in turn became a new way of life for most of the girls working the orchards....
Now ! the orchards were left with little or no work force.
the girls that had been working the streets couldnt leave their new employment.
it was fun and paid well.
the orchard owners needed to get someone to pick the apples again or loose a crop.
and that is the way its been ever since.
so, to answer the question... apple pickers and tarts go hand in hand, so to speak !
