drill a small hole ?
My husband deals in water leaks a lot and although he usually finds out where the original leak is and can fix it from there it is a heck of a lot of hassle. The first suggestion of drilling a small hole is probably more use, so even though the leak isn't fixed at least it is bypassed
i'm guessing your car is around 8-10 years old? it's a fairly common thing, and not a happy ending i'm afraid. rainwater washes off the bonnet onto the battery taking with it acid off the battery outer casing. this then of course rots the body under the battery tray. ask your local body shop for help. if memory serves there was a modification which involves a rubber seal to mostly divert the flow of water.
I have a 2000 VW Passat and suffered for some months with water getting in ... eventually explaining this at the main dealer they suggested looking for blocked drain holes on the shelf in front of the bulkhead. There are two in that particular car, one cunningly concealed underneath the battery! An piece of stiffish wire guided into the hole and the water gushed through and no more problems. Hope this helps.
