Today after school I and many colleagues will be attending wakes for the parent of 2 differents students.
One boy lost his mother after a long battle with cancer, and the other boy's father was murdered in his home.
We also just buried a former student. She was 23 and heading to medical school.
All I can say is that they do not teach you how to deal with all this when you go to "teacher school".
Keep us in your thoughts.

A few years ago there was a terrible car accident which killed 3 local kids, all friends of my sons. A friend lost both of her children. An idiot tried to overtake the car they were in and hit them, pushing them into a tree. There was one funeral for all three and a thousand people attended, including many pupils from the secondary school they attended. The sight of those 3 coffins will always remain with me.
The teachers worked hard to arrange transportation of so many, handling upset pupils and dealing with some who passed out in church due to crush and heat.
Even if they could prepare and train you for it I dont think you could easily deal with something like that.
