Who made the first disco record?

Thoughts on the 'first' of any particular style of music tend to be based on individual perspectives, but it is generally agreed that the first true 'disco' (as opposed to soul or r 'n' b record) was 'The Hustle', composed by the late Van McCoy. The song was a massive world-wide hit, spawning an immediate follow-up in the same vein, 'The Shuffle', as well as an entire spectrum of orchestra backed rhythmic soul music which crystallised as 'The Sound Of Philadelphia' under the stewardship of veteran writers and producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. The rest, as they say, is history.
