Implanon

Hi, anybody out there had any experience with Implanon? Mainly what does it feel like when it's in? I've read some other threads about it and they're mostly positive and although I'm not squeamish, I'm just, um, unsure of how it might feel. Like a matchstick under my skin or nothing at all? Any experience would be great!

My first one was positioned slightly annoyingly, in that it wasn't overly deep and it rubbed against my underwire when I tucked my arms in. Other than that though I couldn't feel it.

The one I have in now is positioned better and it feels just like a thin match under the skin when i deliberately prod it. If I dont poke at it it doesn't feel like anything at all.

As for the actual effects, I have found it brilliant. No periods this time around. The first tie I had to take the mini pill as well for a couple of months as I was spotting irregularly but then I ended up having no periods at all.

My friend's got this contraceptive device, and it seems to work very well. You can feel it under the skin, but it's not really visible unless you point it out to someone. Apparently it's 99% effective, and doesn't harm fertility once it's removed, but your doctor should first check that you don't suffer from thrombosis or a few other medical conditions.

curlysue - this is the information that the doctor gave me. There's another site that lists lots and lots of side effects including decreased sex drive but it was like of 'lets put in everything just in case'
I was going to go for it this morning but the doctors were fully booked.
