System recovery
A friend of mine who has a dial up connection has done a system recovery but in doing so has lost all his microsoft XP updates. It will take nearly 24 hours to download them if he isn't cut off in the meantime.
My computer uses broadband and is fully up to date with the updates. What do I need to do to copy these updates and install on my friends computer?

This will be a roll up of all the fixes that your friend needs to download.
If he can wait that long maybe YOU can download SP3 when it is available and put it on CD and take it round his house for him to install.
He is on dial up so it may not be so urgent that he installs of the fixes straight away.

I am not sure you can copy the fixes from YOUR computer to CD for hm to install.
What you CAN do is download each fix to your computer and have it NOT install. Then you could gather them all up on to CD and take them round to his house and have him install them.
Fount's suggestion may work (but I have never done it).
To get there do as follows:
Open IE and select Windows Update on the Tools menu.
On the Windows Update page select "Use administrator options" on the left.
From the "Administrator options" page select "Windows Update Catalog" at the top.
Here you can search for fixes and download them.
You will probably need to get a list from your friend of the ones he needs and search for them 1 by 1 (tedious I know) then download them.
