Can you help put my mind at ease or at least prepare me for the worst?

Basically, I think I have been caught speeding on the motorway. I passed a cop car (Marked Volvo type) which was parked on the bridge above the M5 and looking back down the motorway at the oncoming traffic. As I passed it, the copper was looking out of his window and pointing a tiny device, so I can't figure out whether that was just radar or a camera as well. Is it possible to get caught by camera from a cop car?

It may have been an automatic number plate recognition device - very good at catching cars on the road that are untaxed or uninsured, or stolen.

It may have been a speed camera. You'll have to wait and see.
the wait is the worst part!
If it was a speed radar, then he would have chased after you at the time. The speed CAMERAS are usually in vans when looking at a motorway.

My thinking is that you were not sufficiantly over the speed limit to warrant his immediate attention at that time.

99% sure thats the last you'll hear of it.
I got done and got 3 points + 100 for exactly the same thing, what speed do you think you were doing? Generally, they prosecute at over 10 miles above the speed limit (80+mph)
Fingers crossed
