just to up date on my op it was a complete failure .I'm no better off than I was the pain in my foot is hell on earth. But at least I know that it will not get worse. After seeing some of the poor sods in hull hospital I'm lucky .
Hello dustypuss. Your timing is impeccable as this is my first day back on AB since my op. Fancy that! I was really surprised and touched to see this thread. Thank you for remembering and caring. And thank you bigmamma and tiggerblue too. Big ((hugs)) to all of you.

Everything went as well as could be expected and I'm recovering well. I'm up and walking around without the aid of a stick now. I can't sit or stand still for very long but every few days the pain is lessened and I'm not needing to take so many pain killers. So all in all it looks like the surgery was worth it. It's still bl00dy painful first thing in the morning and last thing at night though, but not as bad as it was before the op.

The numbness in my foot and ankle is also subsiding already despite the fact I was told it could be months before that happens. I have been told that it might never fully go away though as there could be some permanent nerve damage. Still, I have come so far so quickly that I am hopeful it will go eventually. Even if it doesn't, numbness I can live with, it's the pain I'm more concerned with.

My consultant has told me that I will face a disc replacement op sometime in the near future but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I'm so sorry to hear that your op wasn't sucessful dusty and I can totally empathise with you as far as the pain in your foot is concerned. Mine was mostly in my ankle and it felt like someone had taken an axe to it. I know only too well how unbearable it is. It takes you over. I do hope that you find some respite from it sooner or later.

My love to you all,
