I am now in my third year of my history and archaeology degree and im loving every minute of it. I NEVER even thought about history before as a career choice. I had made the difficult decission to leave nursing because of health reasons, plus i dont like the way nursing is going these days as its just not the same as it used to be.
I was sitting down in my lounge wondering what on earth am i going to do in my life and had a uni prospectus in my hand. i just glanced at my book shelves and noticed that everything i read about was about history. It was as though it was this moment that i realised that i did actually LOVE hsitory!! Does that make sence????
Anyway here I am now nearly finished my degree and I dont look back at all!! Im 30 years old and i do always know that whatever happens i do have my nursing qualifications and experience to fall back on if ever i decided to. I cant see that happening somehow though!!

Mistys I never thought that I would work where I do, it was a 'stop gap' for a year, but am still there after a great many years. Its a good job, challenging and interesting and the people I work with are great, but I want a bit more - so am probably not any good at giving advice re career change. :)
Taliesin238, thanks for that. It must be really good to be doing something that you love and as you say, you also have your nursing qualifications and experience should you need a fall back. And you have done all that at a young age. (yes you have ;) )
Ice-maiden - Your books about AB will be a sell out, cept no one would believe that your stories were based on fact so I would go with the fiction LOL
P.S. Fish was on GMTV recently, he has worn well ;)

I had an unitentional career change about 10 years ago. I had been a graphic artist for over 18yrs when I had my daughter....i then 'dropped out' of the field while she was small. In order to keep myself busy and use my creative urges I started making jewelery and then Papier mache bowl and mirrors. One day the owner of a craft gallery/tea room that I sold thru asked me if I would like to help manage the tea-room...I have been cooking one way or another ever since!!.....I WOULD like to go back to doing my crafty bits sometime, tho.
hi pastafreak I used to be quite artistic and crafty, and enjoyed making jewellery for a while. I cant cook to save my life so that would never be a career choice for me.
Hi jules, wow a plumber, if you do change careers I bet you would do really well as a lot of women would employ a female plumber. Good luck if you do. x
