withdrawal of citalopram
6 Answers
After suffering from a panic disorder and obsessional thoughts i was prescribed citalopram. I have managed to get 98% better on just 10mg. Me and my husband would like to have a baby so iwant to come off the tablets. I realise i need to come off them gradually. Would it be ok to start taking half a tablet a day (so 5mg a day) without suffering from side affects? Im terrified of the panic disorder returning.

I came off Citilopram straight from 10mg to nothing and was fine but it was a different matter with Seroxat, which had horrendous side effects. Your doctor will know what the right way to handle withdrawl is.
Good look with the baby making! (And, if it's any help, I've been off anti-depressants for three years and feel better than ever! They helped me though some rough years but I'm glad to say that life can be great without medication too!)

I am hoping to have a baby soon as well and am on citalopram, my doctor said the same as these folks ^^^ he/she will gradually cut you down, try not to worry to much.
How long have you been on them? It should hopefully just be a few months.
I agree with you SRH - Seroxat was horrible to come off!!
Good luck snt79 x
