How do I determine the amount of memory within my 'folders' on my PC?
If I go into 'My Computer', the size (amount of memory used) is only given for individual files, not for a folder as a whole. I have a 32GB hard drive, which is nearly full (28GB) and I want to find out where all the memory is being used. I suspect it is all the downloads which my daughter has been making, but I do not want the hassle of counting the number of files and multiplying this by the average file size. There must be an easier way which Windows XP can help me to find this out - without buying some additional software!
Can anyone help?

You can also do a file search for filename *.* and this will bring back all files and folders on your pc. Sort them by size to find the biggest ones. You can modify the search to search for large files only (Over 1mb).
Thank you. What I was really after was a summary list of folders with the total amount of memory taken up by the files within that folder. I don't want to right click on individual folders - there are many many folders and it will take too long. (As for the other, well intentioned, suggestions, I have already uninstalled unused programs and deleted temporary internet files.)
Any other suggestions?

...it will scan your hard drive and list the whole thing in size order if you want. It is only an evaluation copy so i think some things are disabled, but I have been using it for ages in that form to keep an eye on a client's server
