Hey Scarlett
My suggestion is a bit geeky, but I'm sure you'll get it OK... you need a not-too-old version of MS Word - I think it's 2003 or higher... anyway, here we go:
Basically the trick is to use the "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer" - this is a "virtual" printer that gets installed with MS Office applications - i.e. it's not really a printer, but you can use it via the File->Print menu item.
If you've not understood the answer yet, bear with me! I go step-by-step from here on... should be easy, honest!
So, first-things-first, select the menu item File -> Print. You should be presented with a list of printers. If you own a printer, that's probably going to be the one that's selected. Callously ignore it, and click on the one called "Microsoft Office Document Image Writer".
Click print. This will ask you where you want to save the file. Choose somewhere easy to find - perhaps your desktop.
Click save and this will save as a file with extension ".mdi". This should also automatically open in another application called "Microsoft Office Document Imaging". (If this doesn't open automatically, just browse to the file and double-click.)
Once in this application, click on "File -> Save As...". Now you get another window... if you look at the bottom you'll see an option that says "Save as Type...". Change this dropdown to read "Tagged Image File Format (*.tif)". Then save it.
You're nearly there! You will be able to open this image type within JASC/Photoshop and then choose "File -> Save As..." and export it as a GIF.
So that's it. Simple... eh?! Post back if you've got any probs...
I really hope you've got a compatible version of Word... :)
Cheers
Andy
